Water Heater Supply Hose

water heater supply hose
On my TRITON shower, can I fit it to a tap?

I wish to use my TRITON shower unit as a heater and remove the shower supply hose and shower head and fit a pipe there instead that will go to a tap. Is it ok to do this? If not why not, and can you recommend a small but effecient water heater instead?

You cannot connect the outlet from a Triton shower heater for the reasons other people have stated, however there is a way of connecting a Triton shower to a basin tap and I have had a Triton T80 running for the last 20 years connected to a basin tap. The heater must always have an open outlet and the water flow is controlled by a valve on ther water inlet so that the heater is never subjected to undue pressure. Special taps are readily available that look the same as ordinary taps with a choice of separate hot and cold taps or a single mixer tap. The taps have 3 pipe connections. Connection 1 the mains water inlet supply. Connection 2, mains water from the tap to the Triton. Connection 3 hot water from the Triton to the unrestricted spout of the tap. Therefore the Triton always has an open outlet to allow for expansion of water and is never subjected to mains pressure. To locate these taps, Google TLC Electrical Supplies, select Sales, select water heating and look for “Vented taps” You will find a selection but would advise against the Heatrae taps as the cannot supply essential spares such as washers and jumpers. A spray type tap will be advisable to secure a better water temperature.
