How much will it cost to have a water heater professionally installed?

Stacy asked:

It’s a gas water heater and I believe I have copper piping because I think it’s sautered on.

Sears charges 350.00 to 400.00 to install. It would be so much cheaper if you know someone that is really handy to do it for you.It really is not hard to remove and install the new one..Most companies will charge a few hundred dollars..

I paid a professional plumber to install mine. He quoted $350, but the code changed since I bought my home so we went ahead and had him bring it up to code, so it cost $380.
