Electric Water Heater Two Thermostats

Ariston Unvented Cylinder?

Can any experienced plumbers tell me what I need to do. I dont want to waste any money calling people out to do some trial and error. I have a direct electric Ariston 210 cylinder with two heaters; 1 for the Economy 7 which on the upper part of the cylinder and the other a booster which is on the lower bit. My flat is electric only. This morning the tank has started to send all the hot water hot through the escape pipe leaving me with no hot water. I spoke to a plumber on here who reckons it is the thermostat of the economy seven heater and i have switched it off. He suggested I use the booster temporarily until he is able to come round and fit a new thermostat. I switched on the booster heater but after about 45 minutes the water starts to rush out through the escape pipe as well. I thought this wouldnt happen as the plumber strongly believed only the upper thermostat was faulty.

What do the experienced plumbers think the fault may be and what can I do?

Hello Natty.
For a start the eco.7 heater is the one at the bottom.
The emergency ie. high rate is at the top.
I have been looking on their web. and need to know if it is a Primo or another of their cylinders.
More info. would help.
BB.
