Is my gas water heater dying?
We have a 50 gal 40,000 BTU gas water heater. Lately we are only able to get about 35 minutes of hot water out of it for showers. It is 10 years old and the warranty is expired. I’ve only ever dealt with electric water heaters. What can I do?
If no one has ever flushed the tank I doubt that it would do any good.
The sediment builds up and just the water flushing through it wont dislodge it to come out the drain valve.
You could try it but the valve may leak when you get done.
Its old enough you need to think about replacing as soon as you can afford to.
